“"The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good, on you!”

For this one, I didn't have that many art materials around- only a black pen. I wanted there to be a bit of colour in the illustration so I delved into my bag and brought out my lipgloss. Not very conventional I know but I like the way it gives a hint of soft colour.

Shoe inspired by industrial revolution

Shoe inspired by industrial revolution

I decided to continue looking at the Victorian theme for my next project in which I made a shoe, This time looking at the Victorian indusrial revolution. For this I visited Armley Mill in Leeds, an old cotton mill which still contained all the original machinery. Through looking at the shapes and parts which make up the machines, it informed me in my designing of the shoe. The client was Kurt Geiger so I had to keep in mind the target market of this brand when I was designing.

So for my elective I chose to do Millinary as I have always wanted to learn how to create hats. My inspiration was Victorian gothic- think of Sweeney Todd and the costumes that Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter wore. This inspiration came from Yohji Yamamotos 2007 Spring/Summer collection where there was a Victorian androgynous feel to the show.
